Film's do not have a nationality. It's not written on their birth certificates.
What makes an American movie, American? The production company funding it.
Film production is dependent on so many different people from around the world.
A film is a film, who gives a shit where it is made.
I will say:
Cole miners and steel workers are popular though in this country.
Brassed Off
The full monty
Billy Elliot
(all of which I enjoyed).
I dont like this oscar time patriotism in the news though. Why is it such a tragedy and why are there so many hidden agendas when a Brit loses in a catergory.
And all this hype about it being such a big deal about 2 African American's winning the main acting awards? I'm With Samuel Jackson with his thinking that it's just really tedious and stupid. Also, why were there only African Americans talking about Sydney Poitier in the video tribute - at least Whoopi picked up on it. Maybe thats because of my age and generation but I'm really happy for Halle Berry and Denzel all the same - they are fantastic and Denzel thoroughly deserves it. I hope Halle stops doing nonsense like X Men and Swordfish!

"Sounds like loser-talk to me"
american, the land of the vulgar. The films that america produces range from genius to faecal matter as does all countries. America is just the giant at producing it so it's funny to diss them.

Come on now guys, i don't think this bickering across the pond is good for the creative juices. Lets all have a nice big hug and forget our differences for once okay?

Hey there.
I cant believe people still say Battleship Potemkin is one of there fave films. Ok it may be the first movie to use montage. But other than that its shite.
There is nothing there that stands up today.
I recognise its place in film history but come on how can it be in the same list as The Seven Samurai or even Trainspotting for that matter
